As of 2023, only 13% of students are proficient in History & Social Science (HSS) skills across the United States. It is CULTURPHORIUM's stance that Hate Crimes in Schools and Society are rising because of the low History and Social Science skill proficiency in the country.
The reality of K12 education is there is
- Low funding and support for HSS
- HSS isn't a priority for grades K-5.
- Teaching the History of All cultures has become politicized.
WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE OUR SOCIETY?
In 5-10 years we will not have individuals prepared to teach or help preserve history, cultures, and cultural resources.
